Naval's new app, Kindle's secret hack, and a great James Clear quote
Happy Tuesday,
If you’re new, welcome to Stay Curious — a short and juicy newsletter where I share what’s keeping me curious in the world of life, tech and startups.
It’s 8 pm. I just wrapped a 21 KM run. And I’m 3/3 this week starting my morning off with a warm croissant. But hey, who’s counting? 🥐
Also — we just passed 1,000+ RSVPs for our pitch event with Andrew Wilkinson from Tiny and Michele Romanow from CBC Dragon’s Den tomorrow. And I’m pretty jazzed about it. If you wanna pull through for a visit, it’d make my day.
Enough plugging of events, let’s get to the goods.
Meet Naval: the co-founder + former CEO of AngelList. (The LinkedIn of the VC world).
He’s also an early investor in 200+ co’s you’d like like Uber, FourSquare, Twitter, Notion etc.
The TL;DR? He knows his stuff. And he just launcehd his latest project. It’s called Airchat.
I tested it out, and I’ve been loving it. It’s like Twitter + Podcasts. If you’re on there, say hi. If you want an invite, drop me a reply.
I’ll pick someone @ random tomorrow morning while I’m feasting on my next JJ bean croissant
⚙️ Framework I’m using: Sending Free PDF versions of books to my Kindle
Sick of buying books? I get it. I’ve been there. If you have a Kindle, you need to pause your spotify discovery weekly and read this slowly.
A lot of great books are online for free in PDF version
All you have to do is Google the title (Harry Potter 1 free PDF)
click one of the links, download the PDF
send it to your kindle
badda bing, badda boom,
you’re laughing (and putting the money you were spending on books, back into cortados and croissants, a way smarter investment as Tony Robbins once said)
P.S. Naval’s book which love (called the Almanack of Naval) has a Free PDF link here if you wanna scroll it on your iPad, phone or Kindle.
🛠 Quote I’m Loving
I got this nice text from a friend named James the other day. And it made me think. James Clear has a point here. If we —
have a 9/10 attitude
ask good questions
engage daily
There’s a hell of a lot more luck surface out there for finding opportunities (a good job, a fun date, a unique friend etc,.
I’ll leave you with this:
I’m pro hard work. But I’m also pro-curiosity.
I find most people often forget about the 2nd one, while over-indexing on the 1st.
If you read this far, thanks for being a wonderful human. Let me know which one was your fav.
Food is my #1 love language but feedback is my 2nd.
Stay curious,
Joel (aka the guy who’s now addicted to Airchat)
